Our BIG REVEAL

What fun was had on 11th December by our volunteers, friends, artist partners and members at our Scrapstore Christmas party and the BIG REVEAL of our giant Hazelhurst mosaic.

At 4pm, we gathered outside the Scrapstore for our countdown to reveal this wonderful piece of artwork. Weavie Steive its choreographer and artist parted the curtain to show giant letters spelling 'Hazelhurst', all mosaiced in various upcycled materials...bottle tops, perspex, wood, bike chain, tiles, beads, mirror and more...The lovely Dave from Tooting Daily Prss made a video. Stevie started it all at Hazelfest in May 2018, encouraging the local community to decorate the giant Hs. She worked tirelessly throughout the summer and autumn with Smallwood School, local people and Scrapstore volunteers to complete the letters, We are delighted with our 'guest' letter (S) made by Heart in Art UK and Bee Urban.

We are really hoping to do more arts work with local people on Hazelhurst Estate in 2019 and beyond, including another Hazelfest as part of Wandsworth Arts Fringe. We are in discussions with local Community Champions and are bidding for funding to support us in this work. Do let us know what you would like us to do next!
