Work and Play Scrapstore is part of the borough-wide Climate Change Festival to coincide with the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow. The idea is to raise awareness of climate change issues, one of which is close to our heart - reducing waste. The 2016 family musical Moana was brought to life in a production at Northwood Schools and fabric collected from Work and Play Scrapstore helped to to re-create the Hawaiian location. Well done that parent who created the costumes. They look fab!
Artist and environmentalist Natalia Kapchuk's first solo exhibition showcases the plight of our planet. Entitled, The Lost Planet, the 30 pieces of her work on show highlight environmental disasters such as plastic oceans, wild fires and coral bleaching. Kapchcuk's mixed media circular artwork incorporates upcycled plastics to drive home the point, augmented by visual and sound projections. It's an issue close to our heart as a re-use charity.
