Stories from the Scrapstore

Tremendous Thanks!

We have been so lucky over the past few months to massively increase our volunteering capacity through lots of lovely groups of Corporate volunteers coming to help us out for the day. We thought it was time to list them all in our news stories to make sure our appreciation for all of their help and support is preserved...so THANK YOU SO MUCH to: NBC Universal Bank of England Vertex Edelman Pernod Ricard AECOM Man Group Tideway Frank Hirth Nexis Lexis FCA ROQ You were all so awesome with your cutting, folding, rolling, winding, packing, tidying, lifting and shifting. We would have any of you back any time! We are looking forward to a busy programme of more volunteering throughout the autumn

Community Vibes

We truly enjoyed being part of the Balham and Tooting Community Fun Day on 13th July. This is a wonderful annual event promoting the coming together of local people with all sorts of Tooting and Balham-based organisations who work with and in the community...stalls, rides, multicultural food, arts and crafts, health and well-being, sports, animals... We were there with our partners Summerstown182, attracting local people to make upcycled daffodils from egg cartons and scrap fabric and sharing the story of Peter Barr, the Daffodil King. Look out for our daffodils at the grand unveiling of Peter Barr's plaque on 21st September at 2pm: more details here. We love being part of local community

We had such fun making, painting, sticking and colouring caterpillars and butterflies. The children had a wonderful time, as did our volunteers Jane and Catherine who ran the activity. As ever, all of our materials used were saved from landfill or incineration and made beautiful for reuse by our volunteer work-force. The childminders had a fab chance to 'shop' as we took a hamper of S
