Getting Crafty with Be-Enriched

Freyja and Jayson have had a great time over the past month visiting Be-Enriched's Graveney Canteen (http://www.be-enriched.org.uk/the-graveney-canteen), sharing the community meal and taking their artistic skills along to get crafty with the other guests. Susan retires!

We had a gorgeous tea party on 17th April to congratulate Susan Poston upon her retirement from the Scrapstore. Lots of friends old and new came along to see Susan off with gorgeous handmade gifts (by Teresa, Berit, Gill and Freyja) and homemade banana cake and cookies (thanks Catherine and Berit!) Our lovely visitor Akira Ichii from the Nagoya Institute of Technology - who would like to open his own Scrapstore in Japan! - joined in with all the fun. Susan was a founder member of Work and Play

Work and Play Scrapstore hosted a workshop there at what looks certain to become an annual event for the charity, whose aim is to enhance mental wellbeing through the power of creativity. The workshop attracted festival goers keen to unleash their creative juices by transforming humble cardboard boxes into stunning keepsake containers. They glued, cut, sh

Viennese Visitor!

We were delighted to welcome Elmar Schwarzlmüller from the Eco Council in Vienna a couple of weeks ago. It was a pleasure to meet him and hear about the project he is part of. This is what Elmar told us about the fantastic work going on in Vienna and his visit to Work and Play Scrapstore: "In our current project, we’re looking at how Repair & Do-it-Yourself Practices can contribute to the development of sustainable urban districts. As part of the project we will also develop and realize Repair & Do-it-Yourself activities in certain districts in Vienna. We are trying to develop new ideas, but on the other hand it’s always a good idea to look at what’s already there. You don’t always have to
