What fun was had on 11th December by our volunteers, friends, artist partners and members at our Scrapstore Christmas party and the BIG REVEAL of our giant Hazelhurst mosaic. At 4pm, we gathered outside the Scrapstore for our countdown to reveal this wonderful piece of artwork. Weavie Steive its choreographer and artist parted the curtain to show giant letters spelling 'Hazelhurst', all mosaiced in various upcycled materials...bottle tops, perspex, wood, bike chain, tiles, beads, mirror and more...The lovely Dave from Tooting Daily Prss made a video. JACE visit

We really enjoyed our visit on 6th December from a group of young people with JACE Balham! JACE works with young people aged 16-25 to provide training and support for job hunting and apprenticeships. As part of their citizenship and enrichment commitments, a Community topic has been included for the month of December...which meant that they visited us to learn about the waste we divert from landfill or incineration by being creative. The students listened beautifully whilst we gave them our 'big talk' and then had a tour of the Scrapstore whilst asking insightful questions. After all that, the lovely young people stayed on and did some volunteering with us to process some of our mountains

Marvelous markets!

We have been so happy to have been at 2 fantastic local winter markets to fundraise by selling our handmade crafts...all made by our super-clever volunteers with our materials otherwise destined for landfill or incineration. Saffron, Kandice, Carey and Gill showcased all the wonderful items available at the Scrapstore - plus what you can make with them - on a stall at the Camberwell Arts & Crafts Winter Market on 1st December. Needless to say it was one of the busiest stalls as handmade decorations and crafts, fabric, trims, baubles, felt and ribbon was snapped up by eager shoppers.
