Teddies in Tooting!
We had a wonderful time joining in with the Streets Jazz Festival in Tooting on Friday 13th November. Catherine and Sascha helped a large group of lovely Tooting locals - mums, dads, grandparents, carers and children of all ages create their very own jazz bear from our reused materials (fabric, card and paper scraps, discarded pens and glue, sequin waste, old buttons, reused wool and bling). There were a wide range of gorgeous creations including cool bears with shades and saxophones, mummy bears wearing the crown jewels and playing the guitar, twins with matching bow ties and clarinets and dudes strumming double-bases wearing leather jackets! Huge thanks to our local councillor Annamarie Critchard for stepping in and helping us make musical instruments and sunglasses and to Saskia, Khalid, and Caroline for hosting us so beautifully in Tooting Library. It was lovely to see Fayon from Wandsworth radio who interviewed lots of the children for a 'Streets' broadcast. Great too to see Dave from Tooting Daily Prss, Cath the producer of Tooting Streets and our very own Trustee Angie Lescott with her son. We love to be part of local community events and are always looking for ways to get involved with what is going on. Please get in touch if there is something we can work on with you!
