Weaving out waste
Did you know that the River Wandle used to have 19 textile mills between its source and mouth? Weaving Out Waste is an exhibition running inside Southside Shopping Centre (3rd floor) until May 8th which explores the impact of textile waste on the planet and showcases an amazing pupil-made woven river created by pupils from 40 primary schools across Wandsworth. It's facilitated by Wandsworth Council and the Royal College of Art. Scrapstore did its bit last weekend (April 27th) when we ran a pop-up workshop to coincide with the exhibition theme of textile waste. Children made riverscapes from upcycled materials and these photos show some of their river-themed masterpieces, all made from upcycled materials.
