We've loved having Chloe Mattei with us this week to draw attention to the Fashion Revolution happening right now.

To find out more, we asked Chloe to explain what it's all about.

Fashion Revolution Day started when on 24th April 2013 thousands of people were killed and over two thousand were injured when the Rana Plaza sweatshop collapsed. It was quoted ‘the worst ever industrial disaster in the fashion and textile industry’. More and more workers are experiencing the same struggles every day because of the growth in producing cheap clothing. Therefore, from that moment onwards, there needed to be a change and that’s when the Fashion Revolution was started.

Last year I produced an event which focused on social media asking members of the public to ask the fashion brands not just where their clothes where made but who personally made them. However, this year I knew I wanted to produce an event more focused on how fashion companies can be more ethical. Therefore, I thought it would be very exciting to collaborate with the Work and Play Scrapstore to introduce the ethical story of the company in relation to the fashion industry. The event should hopefully inspire many people to think about how more of their clothes are being produced and the effect on the textile workers.
